The 2014 EVE Award – Hon. Eva Aariak, 2nd Premier of Nunavut
Equal Voice is a national, multi-partisan organization dedicated to electing more women to all levels of political office in Canada.
Founded in 2006, the Equal Voice EVE Award is given to a woman who has achieved significant success in her political career or to a person who has made a noteworthy contribution to advancing women in political life. Held annually, these innovative annual luncheons convene distinguished Canadian thought leaders in recognition of notable women who have had significant political careers in Canada.
As a multi-partisan organization Equal Voice knows that the recognition of women like Eva Aariak who are transforming Canadian society acts as a catalyst to engage and motivate women to consider the role they can play in strengthening Canadian democracy.
“Eva Aariak’s vision for Nunavut and her leadership in critical discussions on the project of nation-building have resonated with women across the political spectrum in Nunavut and beyond,’” said Raylene Lang-Dion, Equal Voice’s National Chair.
